The night of the Masche
If you happen to meet any of the village\'s older inhabitants, ask them if they know the masche. You can be sure theyll have some interesting stories to tell. But dont ask how can that be possible?\", because certain stories have very little to do with reason
In the Piedmontese dialect a masca is a witch or sorceress, traditionally believed to have supernatural powers. They were held responsible for negative or unaccountable events, and often persecuted.
Although in many villages the masche are just a distant memory, in Sinio they are the protagonists for a whole night: the night of the masche, held on the evening of 14th August each year with artists, jugglers, music and lots of legends
